This script automatically generates an offline standalone portable interactive map in HTML format that can be opened on a desktop, tablet, or mobile phone using a web browser, even without an internet connection (to load the overlay base map, you need to connect to the internet once).
To build this script, I used folium (a Python package for creating interactive maps), along with several other Python packages including pandas for data transformation and geopandas for handling spatial data.
The advantage of this script is its ability to directly pull data from various sources such as spatial data from POSTGIS, existing shapefiles, and Excel or CSV files, perform transformations and plot the data on the map, and generate the HTML file in one go without the need for additional software.
The HTML map created with this script can be attached as an object in a PowerPoint presentation, making the presentation more interactive, engaging, and intuitive.
