SPATIAL DATABASE AND SHARING WITH GEOSERVER

GeoServer is primarily used for serving spatial data over the web. It can publish spatial data in a variety of formats (WMS, WFS, WCS, etc.) that can be easily accessed by web applications, desktop GIS, or mobile devices. GeoServer also provides advanced styling options through SLD (Styled Layer Descriptor), allowing users to create custom styles for maps and other spatial visualizations. GeoServer is designed to integrate easily with other web GIS tools, like Leaflet, making it a powerful tool for creating dynamic web maps and interactive applications.

In this project, I have set up GeoServer to connect to spatial data stored in PostGIS, set the labels and symbology, and then serve that data via web services (e.g., WMS, WFS). The data served by GeoServer is then used as a layer in a WebGIS application using Leaflet and GeoDjango.

In addition to being used in the WebGIS application, the layers published by GeoServer can also be displayed in desktop applications such as QGIS and ArcGIS to be used as basemaps or for creating printed maps.
